CLASH OF THE BOROUGHS: KNICKS FALL TO NETS FOR SEVENTH STRAIGHT LOSS, 109-98


GAINESVILLE, Fla. —  The New York Knicks (23-33) lost their seventh consecutive game to the Brooklyn Nets (15-40) on February 19, 2016. 

The Knicks led by five early in the third before the Nets stormed ahead with a 20-2 run for a 74-61 lead. Brooklyn shot 12 of 19 in the period (63 percent) and scored 34 points to take an 84-76 advantage to fourth, according to ESPN.

It can be noted that the Knicks have lost their fourth straight at the Barclay center. This is the longest the Knicks have gone losing to the Nets in the Nets home territory. This is the first time it has happened since the Nets won seven games in a row in New Jersey from 2001 until 2004.

Brooklyn Nets Brook Lopez was the star of the night with 33 points, eight rebounds and four blocked shots. Lopez shot 13 of 23 from the field and added eight rebounds in dominating twin brother Robin, who had 10 points and seven boards, according to ESPN. 

Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks into the fourth with 17 points six rebounds and five assists. Brooklyn took an 84-76 advantage to the fourth.

“We can’t be giving away games like this,” Anthony said. “It’s crunch time now.”

The Knicks committed 16 turnovers that led to 21 points, according to ESPN.


“It all comes down to us not being able to execute our offense,” Rambis said. “They ramped up their defensive pressure and then turnovers.”
