GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The New York Knicks (23-32) are to take on the Brooklyn Nets (14-40) before wrapping up their regular season. Tipoff from Madison Square Garden is at 7:30 p.m. ET. The Knicks will be going into this game after a six-game losing streak with hopes to dominate the Nets.

Star rookie, Kristaps Porzingis, and eight-time All Star, Carmelo Anthony, combined for 47 points on 16-for-31 shooting in the Knicks' 108-91 win over the Brooklyn Nets on December 5, 2015, according to ESPN. The Knicks are hoping for a similar victory for this upcoming game.

The last matchup between the two teams was in Nets territory on January 13, 2016. The Nets beat the Knicks 110-104, making it a close game.

The New York Knicks fired coach Derek Fisher Feb. 9 after the team lost its fifth straight game and nine of it's past 10, which has the team shaken up, according to ESPN.

"It's an unfortunate situation that I've been a part of multiple times through my career," Anthony said. "You become kind of immune to it at this point and understand that this is part of the business. This is the bad part of the business."

The Knicks are approaching the five year anniversary of Carmelo Anthony’s trade to the Knicks. The Nets were hoping to grab Melo, but fell short in the end, ultimately leaving Melo to the Knicks.

It can be noted that the rivalry between the two teams is like none other. In 2013, NBA commissioner arranged a meeting between the owners of the New York Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets, James Dolan and Mikhail Prokhorov, to lessen the tension between the two teams, according to the New York Post.
